Datasync RMS was not created in a conference room. It grew behind the counter, inside real businesses, where every problem had to be solved for real.
There are talented software developers who have never operated a retail store.
There are experienced retailers who cannot build the systems they wish they had.
Our founder, David Hill, began designing software in San Ramon, California in the late 1990s and continued through the early 2000s.
Throughout the many companies he has owned, software has always been part of the equation — not just to run those businesses, but to make them more efficient, measurable, and easier to manage.
Long before Datasync RMS had a name, the idea behind it was already there: when a business process was slow, confusing, repetitive, or difficult to measure, software could make it better.
That mindset followed David across multiple businesses and eventually into retail — where the opportunity to build something truly different became much larger.
In 2015, David opened his first smoke shop in Atlanta, Georgia.
The POS system that would eventually become Datasync RMS began on Day One.
It was refined continuously as real needs appeared. Features were added daily, weekly, and monthly. Problems were solved because they had to be solved.
A real store opened, and a real POS began growing with it — one requirement, one problem, and one improvement at a time.
After years of development inside a working retail business, the decision was made to make the system available to other retailers.
Datasync RMS is designed for retail businesses of many kinds, with particular strengths for smoke shops, convenience stores, and dispensaries.
What makes it different is simple:
New features, enhancements, bug fixes, workflow improvements, and custom client solutions are engineered in an operating retail environment and tested in the real world.
We see what happens when employees and customers need the system to move quickly.
We know the difference between a theoretical inventory problem and one that has to be fixed today.
Retail software has to work for real employees under real pressure, not only in a perfect demo.
Stores still have to operate, so reliability and continuity matter.
Reports should answer the question you actually have, not simply produce more data.
We improve it, test it, and keep moving the product forward.
The ability to design, build, test, and continuously improve complex business software.
Years of living with the consequences when inventory, employees, transactions, reports, or operations do not work the way they should.
The ability to understand the operational problem and then build the software to solve it has shaped the product from the beginning.
Whether you operate one store, fifty stores, or more, Datasync RMS is designed to help standardize operations, organize inventory, improve visibility, and give you better information to make decisions.
And when you run into a problem in your store, there is a good chance we have already encountered it, worked through it, and built something to address it.
The product has been shaped by years of actual transactions, actual customers, actual employees, actual inventory, actual compliance concerns, and actual retail problems.
That real-world experience is not a marketing feature. It is the foundation of the software.
See how years of operating a real smoke shop shaped our age verification, inventory management, employee accountability, and retail POS workflows.
